Q: Does Judo Teach Discipline

A:  All sports teach discipline whether it is soccer, gymnastics, chess or playing an instrument.  Learning to listen to and trust a coach builds confidence and discipline.  

Q:  Where did judo originate?

A:  The Olympic sport of judo came from Japan, however We do not require Japanese rituals such as bowing to the mat, and we refer to the moves in English terminology.  

Q:  What does it take to get on your competition team?  

A:  You have to pass the Competition Test, which consists of one forward throw, one counter throw and ONE PIN.

Q:  If you make the Competition Team are you required to go to competitions?

A:  Absolutely not.  you will earn the Blue Line Judo Competition Team patch and you will know that if you ever wanted to compete, you are qualified to do so.

Q:  What other expenses are there after I sign up for a one month or three month block?

A:  You need a judo suit, if you have one or want to get your own that is great.  We sell judo suits for $50-$75 at the studio. If you choose to go to competitions there will be entry fees and you will be required to register with the national association. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR BELT PROMOTIONS.

Q: HOW IS JUDO DIFFERENT FROM OTHER MARTIAL ARTS?

A: JUDO INVOLVES THROWS, SUBMISSIONS, AND PINS. THERE ARE NO KICKS, PUNCHES, OR STRIKES OF ANY KIND.
